This
page gives a quick overview on what kind of material you may expect
on the Sagitta website. The site is maintained by Robert Smits, Dutch and
owner of Sagitta s/n 10R, flying with the Auckland Gliding Club and RNZAF
Aviation Sports Club in New Zealand. As one appreciates, the site is under
continuous review and will be updated frequently when "news" becomes
available. We are also eagerly awaiting more material regarding Piet
Alsema, and will soon publish information gathered from his family (thank
you so much Erica Alsema, his daughter, and Lonneke Alsema, his
niece).
Many thanks to the key contributors to this site: Harrie
Wiertz jr., Charles Munnig Schmidt, Eric Munch and so many others from Holland,
Howard Petri and Terry Menees from USA. Peter Layne, Don Grigg and
Eric van Notten from New Zealand. John Viney from Australia, glider pilots
and enthusiasts from the UK, Spain and South Africa. Thanks for your
support, your emails and your information. With only a few Sagitta's flying
-and all are spread all over the globe- we are a very small community; the
web site wouldn't have been here without your help and support! Thank you
all.
Build up of the web site.
On the left hand site of every page you will always
find a small main menu. It will take you to the main pages
within a particular subject, like historical information, technical
info, picture galleries or a complete oversight of all Sagitta's. It
will also bring you "one page up", this is back to the main category
youwere coming from. On top is always "home", back to the start page of
the site. Some menus will have more subjects than others, so always
look there. All menus are repeated at the bottom of every
page.
Examples: To find either historical information or pictures of one
specific Sagitta you will have to click to "History" and from there to the
country where the glider is based, e.g. USA. The same goes for the pictures:
to find a pic of a Dutch Sagitta, click first on "Photo gallery", and then on
the country you want to go to. All technical information, like AD's, drawings,
manuals and much more, is accessible through the "Technical Information"
main page, through the sub menus, but also through links on that page.
Have a look!
There is a lot of unspecified material,
spread throughout the site, like newspaper articles, magazine clippings,
reports from accidents, championships etc. You'll have to look and see, or
maybe you'll find some links below... | Sagitta history. About NV Vliegtuigbouw and Piet Alsema.
A bit about the standard class, and the ideas behind the design.
Furthermore pages to the history of each individual Sagitta, categorised
by country (Holland, New Zealand, USA and South Africa). Jump directly to
any page by clicking on the link.

|
 | Sagitta pictures. A huge amount of
pictures, some very high quality, some old, some new. The main
gallery page has a random collection, otherwise are all Sagitta pics
sorted by country, with galleries for each one, or each
photographer. A very unique collection; be patient with downloading.
Note: any picture you click on will give a larger image. These
larger images have a lower quality than the original for faster downloading.
However, many of the pictures are also available in high quality print
versions, up to 5MB. If you want or need one of those
you'll have to email me.
