Bits & Pieces that don't fit anywhere else...

Sagitta 010R ZK-GDO gets some new pins, after excessive forward and aft play on the wings and wear of the lower main pin. Auckland Gliding Clubs' Grant Nelson adjusts pins and holes. She gets a nose job at the same time. November 2004. Main pin measures now 30.5 mm with absolutely NO measurable tolerance, and aft pins are 0.5 inch (12.5 mm).

Sagitta 013  PH-319 being restored at Hilversum 2004

Here are the most recent pictures of PH-319. Owned by the Aviodome Aviation Museum, but based at Hilversum airport. Being restored under supervision of Charles Munnig Schmidt. Peculiar detail: the canopy is an old Ka-8 canopy, made to fit by slight alteration of the fuselage... PH-319 also features a tail wheel.

How to blow a new canopy...

Pictures are kindly submitted by Phil Southerden. They show the process of trial and error - but after three failed attempts they produced several Sagitta canopies with the mould pictured. The mould is still available and currently stored at Drury, New Zealand.

Pictures: Phil at the oven, the final canopy fitted on Sagitta ZK-GDX, the moulds, the first 3 attempts placed on top of each other on the trailer, the final canopies on the trailer, the final canopies straight from the oven, and the last one showing how the mould was hung to get the right shape.
